Why Lean Manufacturing is important to the card market
In recent years, the card industry has witnessed significant changes in the way cards are distributed and sold. Specialist multiples and the growth in supermarket card sales have resulted in publishers having to cope with retail-specific designs, increased stock control units, shorter design life-cycles and lower print runs. All of which increase stock levels, with the potential for significant waste on those designs that do not sell.
The overriding objective for Loxleys is to create real value for our customers, by meeting the demand for product without the need for excessive stock in the supply chain. This means reduced stock risk, whilst simultaneously meeting market demands and the consumers’ desire for new or refreshed product.
Loxleys lead the print industry in the application of Lean working and principles achievements and date have been recognised by winning awards for Lean Manufacturing and nominated by the institute of directors.
