Loxleys invests in new finishing machinery.

Due to an increased demand for foiling, embossing and diecutting. Loxleys are pleased to announce that we have invested £275,000 in a new SBL1050SEF B1 machine.

This new SBL was installed and commissioned during early November 2011 and is an addition to the existing 3 machines.

Richard Bacon, Managing Director said “The investment decision made itself, we have experienced a large growth in customers who are adding value to their products by utilising foil, emboss and diecutting.

This investment is one of several over the last couple of years, all of which keep Loxleys as the market leader in the manufacturing of greeting cards.

Loxleys staff take a hike for Charity.

A team of ten from Loxleys have successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge. The challenge involved climbing the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire whilst hiking a distance of 24 miles, all of which had to be completed in under 12 hours to qualify. The team managed to complete the gruelling trek in 11 hours and 40 minutes, and by doing so raised £2,400 for charity. Sincere thanks go to SBL Machinery, Strand Paper, Optichrome Computer Systems, Robert Horne and Peter Hoare whose sponsorship was greatly appreciated.

All team members managed to complete the challenge set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, scaling the three peaks of Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough which have a combined height of over 7000 feet, and although completely shattered with very sore legs and feet, still managed to hobble to the local pub for a celebratory pint afterwards.

Tony Lorriman, Commercial Director and team leader of the event said “It is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved, a really hard challenge but everyone has thoroughly enjoyed it and raising money for charity is the icing on top of the cake”.

Loxleys have chosen The Sheffield Children’s Hospital as their Charity of the Year.

The team, pictured above, consisted of (from left to right): Aleksandra Mikolajczak, Gary Anderson, Andrew Rodgers, Richard Bacon, Edward Crewe, Steve Crewe, Andy Wicken, Ksenia Lechowicz, Mick Hattersley & Tony Lorriman.

Loxleys are increasing their commitment to the environment to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation by mid year 2011.

To demonstrate our commitment to the environment, Loxleys have implemented an Environmental Management system with the aim of achieving certification to the environment standard ISO 14001 by mid year 2011.

Loxleys began to focus on environmental issues in July 2008 when recycling was promoted across the company resulting in a 60% reduction in the volume of waste sent to Landfill.

Commercial Director Tony Lorriman comments “The recycling project has been a great success, reducing the number of skips we send to landfill from 5 per week down to 2. By working towards ISO 14001 certification we are now going to look at other environmental issues resulting from our daily activities such as energy use, eliminating the use of alcohol on press, all aspects of waste and further recycling improvements as well as encouraging our employees to adopt environmentally friendly travel plans via a cycle to work scheme”.
