Continuing our mission to reduce the environmental impact of a greeting card and adding to our ever-growing portfolio of eco-solutions, Loxleys have developed the industry’s first 100% plastic free euro-hook.
Launching in a major high street retailer this week, the Eco-Hook© solution sees the elimination of a plastic euro-hook by replacing it with an all-board alternative. The solution, which is integrated into the card design itself, is combined with a perforation line to provide an easy tear for the consumer.
Designed and developed on site by our product development team, the solution recognises that the euro-hook is an integral part to displaying cards at retail, but with a shift and need to reduce plastic consumption, the Eco-Hook© allows consumers to recycle it along with any other paper or board household waste. Meaning no confusion about recycling streams at kerbside.
Alice Buck, Loxleys Marketing Co-ordinator explained “We have worked to develop this 100% plastic free solution and are pleased to see our customers getting on board (excuse the pun) with it. The solution goes live this week on a HotchPotch design, featuring not only the environmentally friendly Eco-Hook© but also Eco-Glitter made from eucalyptus tree cellulose and a Secure-Seal label. Sustainable solutions are the key focus for us, and we are committed to continually supporting the industry and our customers in their environmental efforts”.
Tony Lorriman, Managing Director, added “With a shift towards naked cards, it was vital that we developed a solution that would allow publishers and retailers to continue displaying their cards on a hanging euro-hook, but we knew we faced issues with using a plastic based euro-hook or attaching a euro-hook to a non-bagged card because of the damages it would cause to the card. An integrated board hook solved all the problems, it allows us to combine the Eco-Hook© with a Secure-Seal label, displaying the card securely at retail whilst allowing us to offer our customers a naked card packing option”.
